Follow your Own guidance

by Julie May 27, 2013

One way to keep your schedule as you would like it to be is to take on only things that feel right to you. Use your own personal integrity and trust your guidance to make choices. Even though someone else might suggest something, double check it with your own desires. Even if you have given them authority over you, or you value their judgment, always reserve the final choice as your own. One way to make this happen is to decide consciously that when someone asks you to do something, to volunteer for something, be part of a project or anything that is going to involve your time and energy; plan to say, “thank you for asking, I will get some guidance about that.” No one continues to harangue you after this comment. Then you have time alone to ponder whether their request fits your needs. Let the voice of guidance direct your daily affairs more and more.

I needed this reminder today. I have taken on a lot of volunteer hours while working full-time, painting, and sessions. I was wondering if it is really time well-spent OR if I am just using all of these things I love to do to boost my ego, to be dutiful, and to please as many people as I can. What is my motivation? I guess I will have to get some guidance on that!
